Celebrating 10 Years of Patrick and the various venues of The Nearby/Hidden/Tree, a party to thank the support over the last decade. Here are a selection of photos of the private party upstairs at Nearby The Tree with a buffet of Pacific Oysters, Tomato Gazpacho, King Prawns, Salmon Ceviche, Foie Gras, etc, etc and all washed down by a selection of wines and digestifs. And no birthday is a party without a cake.

Party Table

To cater to larger parties, we now have a new temporary table arrangement, so large groups can be seated at the same table.

The table is made up of 3 tables, totally 6.6m x 3m and can be arranged in different format according to the customer requirements. Set up as one table up to 32 people can comfortably be seated for dinner, and more seats can be added if necessary.

Soft Opening – Photos

Nearby The Tree opened its’ doors to the crowds for the first time on Sunday 21st October for a quiet opening of the main bar. Here are some photos of the many people who turned up to sample the drinks on offer at the new venue. The upstairs open restaurant and kitchen will not be fully functional until later in November.

Renovation – Nearly There

The bar is nearly ready. As you can see, it’s nearly ready to open. Opening day of Nearby the Tree is approaching with most construction and fit out now complete. Just need some beer and staff.

Renovation – Electrics

Lots of hidden work going on here, electrics, plumbing, etc. etc. It has also been a busy time for Patrick as he has been designing furniture and finding manufacturers and suppliers. Let’s hope there is space for all of it when it is all delivered.

Renovation – Tiles

Getting the kitchen tiles laid on the floor and walls. At least there will be somewhere for the kitchen equipment to stand as it is delivered in the next week.

Renovations – Concrete and Plaster

No 4th July celebrations for these boys, although I’m sure they had a few Yangjing to remove the taste of brick from the mouth. Building work is definitely a lot more solid in these parts than in Europe, where it is all masterboard and cladding, here good ‘ol bricks and concrete are the order of the day.
